This client’s condo was a dream to shoot in. There was so much natural light flowing into their room that it gave a perfect glow around them and allowed for very well lit photographs. I love maternity portraits, and wish more people would agree to doing them. “C” will never forget this time in her life and I hope that her photos are a good reminder of this. I am so excited for their baby to arrive!
The last month has been a complete whirlwind. It finally feels like spring is here (or almost here), and the sessions have begun! In addition to this, I spent the last 5 days at the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International conference in Las Vegas. It really was non stop learning and soaking in as much information as possible. I am very glad that I got to experience this for the second time (I went two years ago too), and I am really excited for the ideas, inspiration, products, and friendships that I am coming home with. You will probably notice some of these ideas as I am going to immediately make some changes in the studio. Please keep in mind that these are for the better, and will only help you in having the best possible portrait experience. I really do believe in creating works of art with your family’s and child’s portraits, and hope that you take all the information the studio provides as helpful hints on how to achieve the best possible portraits of your family. Ok, I’ll get off my soapbox now (I’m just excited to be moving forward with the business and making it better for you!)
This brings me to a few recent sessions. The first one of of little “S”. She is simply one word: adorable. She had just woken up from her nap when we did her session, and she was just in the best mood. I love her little curls and chubby legs. Her parents were also very fun to work with. I must admit I’m a little sad that these guys are packing up and moving to Europe, because they have been such fun clients to work with! (Plus, I’m just a little jealous that they are moving to Europe and traveling for the next few years). S was such a natural in front of the camera, and I can see why mom and dad wanted to capture this age of her life!
This next little guy was also a lot of fun to photograph. I was very inspired by the decor of the house we shot in, and I loved being able to use lots of colors, patterns and textures. Baby “C” put up with all my clothing changes and room changes and was a great model. I love the one of his parents with him on the polka dot bed, you can feel their love for him in the portrait. I am looking forward to photographing him again later on this year and watching him grow!
I will be out of the office from March 7-11 at a photography conference (WPPI!). Thank you for understanding this week as our response times for calls/emails may be a little longer than normal. Sorry I haven’t posted much lately, things have been a little crazy around here after our Groupon ad ran. I am really excited with the turn out we got and am excited to work with everyone! Here is a sneak peek of our very first Groupon customer, baby L. He was only a week and half old for his first photo shoot, and he was such a natural. I think he is just adorable.

This last month I have been able to look at the studio and make some much needed updates/evaluations. Not only is the showroom getting a new look, but I am also updating our list of products/services.
***FIRST IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT***: Studio Christy will be featuring an AMAZING deal (and yes, we are talking huge steal!) on Portland Groupon next Monday, February 15th, 2010!!! You can only purchase this special through their website, so you will need to sign up for their emails at www.groupon.com. This special will only be available for purchase on Monday, February 15th, however your sessions can be booked anytime through the end of 2010! So if you are considering having a session done at any point this year, you should buy it at the Groupon!
The second thing is that we are now offering an add-on for all sessions. This is a Style Consultation. This is optional, however I HIGHLY recommend that you take advantage of it. It includes the following:
Personal consultation (at your house or the showroom) before the session to review clothing/accessories, and to go over concept ideas for your session.
Between 1 and 3 outfits will be purchased (by me) for your child to wear at their session. You also get to keep all the clothes/accessories!
$40 per child
Why should you do this? Because I am the artist, and a lot of the time I have an idea for your child’s shoot that can only come to life with personally stylizing the session! Stylizing a shoot is a majority of the creativity that goes into a session, and I’m sorry but white polos and jeans just aren’t cutting it anymore! I will come and see what options you have, and we can talk about the look you want for your child’s session before purchasing the pieces for your session. I say you will get 1-3 outfits because it will just depend on the child and the look you are going for. As an example, I got all the clothing and hair pieces used in this session for under $50. Not all style consultation will result in this many options, but will be the perfect fit for your session.

Actually he is my second cousin (son of my cousin, right?) We did his 6 month session a few weeks ago, and I just have to say he was one of the happiest babies I’ve ever seen. Look at the pictures, I don’t know if there are any where he isn’t grinning as wide as possible. Well, except the one where he thought we were taking away his toy. Even his pouting is cute though, so I had to post it! Little Onyx was so much fun, and I love that we got to use so many hats in his session.

Over the holidays I got to take a few snapshots of my cousin Robyn. Isn’t she photogenic? It was SO cold out that day, we will do more when the weather is nicer…..

We really lucked out with a beautifully sunny day, and the kids had a lot of fun. I just love how their different personalities really show through their images. We ended the session with some shots inside by the Christmas tree, and these are some of my favorites from the session!
